What do our clients have to say?
I just want to let others in the contracting field know that who they pick to represent them in a Sales and Use Tax audit can make or break them. I made the mistake of handling my audits on my own with the help of my CPA. The auditor began setting up taxable commercial remodel jobs; which I believed were new construction. I started asking around for help, I did find a lawyer that claimed he knew sales tax law, but I learned down the road that his knowledge was very sketchy at best not to mention the fact he made the audit situation worse. When I went to conference with the attorney and the CPA, I could tell they were not astute on sales tax because the Auditor and the Auditor Supervisor were walking all on them. Needless to say I dropped the Attorney. My CPA referred me to the State Tax Group so that I could continue my case.
After negotiating a reasonable retainer, I no longer had to do any more research on the state’s
STARS research system for my case. The State Tax Group did all the necessary research for
my case. The State Tax Group met with the hearing sections without me, and through a
number of communications with them managed to knock the amount I owed down to a fraction
of what I had been originally assessed. Still to this day I will continue to value the advice of the
State Tax Group to keep my business out of trouble!
Sincerely, A. Johnson of Ryland Homes, Dallas, TX.
